Questions about reaching the project
How do I share an oral history or personal story?
Use the contact form to tell us what you’d like to share and the best way to reach you. Include any helpful details (names, dates, places, organizations, and whether you’re comfortable being recorded). We’ll reply with next steps, consent information, and scheduling options.
Can I donate photos, papers, or other archival materials?
Yes. Send a brief description of what you have (format, date range, and condition) and whether you prefer to donate originals or share digital copies. Please don’t mail items without coordinating first—once we review your message, we’ll confirm the safest way to transfer materials.
I’m a researcher/educator—can I request information or access?
Absolutely. Tell us what you’re working on, your timeline, and what kind of sources you’re seeking (people, events, locations, or time periods). If materials are available, we’ll suggest relevant leads, discuss usage permissions, and connect you with the right point of contact.
How long does it take to hear back after I contact you?
We aim to respond as quickly as possible, typically within 3–7 business days. During busy periods or while processing interviews and collections, it may take a bit longer. If your request is time-sensitive, note your deadline in the message so we can prioritize appropriately.
Can I remain anonymous or keep parts of my story private?
Yes. Privacy and safety matter. You can ask to use a first name only, a pseudonym, or to keep certain details off the record. We’ll discuss options before anything is shared publicly, and you’ll have a chance to review consent choices so you stay in control of your information.
