Arse against. ass

"Arse" is a British Slang term that refers to a "stupid person", but it could be used as a synonym for "ass". This is the source of confusion because both are based upon horses, which are a kind of creature. In the USA the correct term for Donkeys is "Ass".

The word arse originated as an inoffensive term for the body part, Asia but has since become a vulgar term. "Ass" was an alternative to the arse term in the 19th century. It originally meant the horse-like animal group however, in the 1860s it developed into a slang word for the posterior. It is also used in the expression "to arse around'. "Ass" is also used in the phrase "to make an ass of oneself as an association with the word 'arse about'. There are many meanings of arse, Mom but none are found in the word 'ass.

Appropriateness in popular Culture

We often see cases in which the dominant culture takes elements from a minority's culture. This practice, Anal Gaping also known as cultural appropriation can result in a lack of respect from members of minority groups. Many Black people consider this patronizing practice, regardless of whether they are wearing a Native American headdress to a music festival or Fresh wearing blackface on Halloween.

In addition to adopting aspects of minority cultures the dominant group may also benefit from intellectual property of the minority group. Blackfishing is just one instance. It is important to consider that people of color have a history of being marginalized and deprived of rights. For example, when you see a person of color wearing a blackface Halloween costume it is important to consider the history of black people being excluded.
